Always Test Drive the Car

That's right... always, always test drive the car. In this case, test drive the relationship by living together. And let me tell you... test drive has been very trying. At times it has been good, at times bad, at times indifferent to where I can let things go. But, it has mostly been bad. No, not bad... sad. It's been sad.
The boy and I are so different it's not even funny. I don't even want to get into details, it's just sad & disappointing. I'm not that disappointed for myself, just disappointed I've introduced him to my parents and my dad really likes him. I need to stop introducing these boys you know lol. After my mother heads back to Oman (she's visiting and staying with us now), I think I feel a solo holiday or a holiday with a friend coming on. I know it's only been over 2 months and my mom being here is really straining, but it's been really revealing too. All things happen for a reason.

Indeed, The Great One!

Great One Cookie Company . 3111-B Monticello Avenue, Dallas . 214.219.3111

Since the boy and I have moved in together in suburbia, let's just say the "adjustment phase" is still in the picture. Albeit, almost on its way out. So when a former client of mine told me about a new sweet haunt in my former neighbourhood Uptown, I yelped "SWeeeeet!" I could use a cookie at a time like this (but I'm not settling for Nestle Toll House). So, I drove down and parked in front of the "Great One Cookie Company." Firstly, let me start off by saying, from the outside it's the cutest, quaint little shop. Then you walk in and are greeted by an almost creamy interior with a blown up image of mouth-watering cookies on one wall, and heavy glass jars with delectable cookies in the showcase. I met with Pam, the owner of the store and we chatted for a bit. I asked her why cookies out of all things, and she said she just followed a dream (which is something that always instantly inspires me). So, then came the big decision of which cookie to get. I settled on chocolate chip, white chocolate macadamia with cranberries and oatmeal raisin. This is what I loved- Pam went to the back and got fresh cookies, not from the jars in the showcase. Somehow I made it home without ruining the surprise... I had decided this was going to be a slow, enjoyable process. The cookies are huge and heaping, so I broke all 3 into half and popped them in the micro for 6 seconds. These are the most decadent and amazing cookies, worthy enough to replace cake (on some occasions). This is certainly NOT your average cookie. Each cookie also had the slightest dash of salt mixed in with a great sweet cookie. All I can say is thank God I don't live in Uptown anymore, cause I would be in trouble.

A Shot of Love

Miggity has been stressed out to the T with the never-ending combo of school and work. And of course I've had to listen to the whining. So, I decided enough is enough. It's time to get him out of the house doing something he would consider fun. I figured since I cannot change the school/work scenario for him, and nothing I say helps, I could look out for his needs and give him what he wasn't giving himself. So, i dragged him to the indoor gun range. We shot with a rifle and a pistol. I was so scared and nervous to pull the trigger on my first shot; mainly because I was handling THIS THING. Totally overwhelming. Miggity had a blast and he has some serious skills (or shall i say skillz lol). He zoned in on one part of the paper zombie target and went to town. I was really impressed. After that he almost seemed more himself for a bit. Everyone needs to clear their head once in a while.
